How to Be Successful
What you need to DO

Home
Know & Do

  • Contribute to the weekly Discussion Forum:  You need to specifically and explicitly build connections from weekly readings to other texts, sources and resources you have reviewed, searched or remember.
  • Bring your SELF to the learning environment:  You need to build connections from your own teaching experiences and digital skills by exploring digital tools in the weekly activities in D2L and open spaces. Your reactions and reflections should be visible and evident in your written or creative works.
  • Complete weekly inter-activities (in-tivities):  You need to risk and try new things. Digital technologies and critical literacies are not experienced without trial and error.  Get into the digital sandbox to explore.  Actively engage with others in this course, discuss issues, share insights & successes or topics of interest with your instructor and classmates. Search for people beyond this course who can extend and enrich your learning.

Make Connections

Picture
Building connections comes from thinking deeply about topics, reading widely and allowing time for reflection. The following connections should be evident within your written, digital and creative work.
  • text to text - making links between similar or diverse pieces of texts, images, media
  • text to self - bridge from your own thinking to other texts, media, discussion items
  • text to world - attach relevance from texts or media to specific real world practices or processes
  • self to world - examine your place and identity within the world of teaching and learning, as explored in personal real world experiences
  • self to others - build relationships to the thoughts, ideas or written works of others in this class, your placement experiences (AT, students) and professional learning networks
